The Department of Architecture at Paragon International University would like to congratulate the team, consisting of ARC alumni, who received the Third Prize Award among 45 teams in the architectural competition themed βPochentong Reborn: Transforming Phnom Penh Old Airport into a Sponge City.β
The competition was organized by the Architects Association of Cambodia (AAK) and evaluated by a panel of renowned juries from the Board of Architects Cambodia, AAK, and professional architects.
The teamβs project, βThe Forest of Recollection,β proposes a city park that investigates the subsurface, social, and atmospheric layers that shape a sponge city park while respecting the historical identity of the former airport. Using the sponge city concept together with the theme of climate-resilient urbanism and recreation, the project envisions reforesting the site while functioning as urban infrastructure that manages flash flooding and mitigates the urban heat island effect.
Paragon.U students continue to make meaningful contributions to the built environment through innovative and socially responsive design.
