Course Name: Architectural Design Studio II (ARC 202)
Academic Year: 2024-2025
Instructor: Ms. Vichera HEANG (M.Arch),
Ruben Castillero Mortera (M.Arch)
ARC202 is the second studio course for architecture students to experience in building design. Students are going to experience a semi-public building.
The major area of concern for this course is exploring spatial qualities. This course takes the contentious view that spatial quality is the defining feature of a place that makes it ‘architecture’. To explore such spatial qualities, this unit must also engage with means of communication other than traditional written or verbal ones. As such, this unit also introduces a range of skills that will equip you to better discuss (visually) architectural concepts and propositions. To learn successfully in this unit, you will need to see the tasks and exercises as opportunities to experiment, both in your ways of thinking and in your ways of visually communicating. As such, success in this unit requires a high level of participation, both participation in activities and discussions during tutorials and participation in tasks and activities between tutorials. The capacity to analyze, communicate, imagine, and solve problems is best learned through doing.
