How do we design a place of hospitality and tourism that does not erase the identity of those who have always called this land home? Putang is the answer. A resort that does not use indigenous living culture as a backdrop but places it at the center of every design decision. Set in the cool highlands of Sen Monorom in Mundulkiri, Cambodia.

This project explores the design of a hospitality retreat that embraces the natural beauty and cultural richness of Mondulkiri. Putang is based on the idea that the best energy is the energy that already exists. And also the use of local timber and material minimizes embodied carbon and ensures that the resort is a vernacular design and environmentally friendly.
