This course introduces fundamental concepts and approaches to creating landscapes that respect and respond to the environment. It explores the theories that influence landscape architecture and how these theories are translated into physical environments. The course is divided into two phases. The first phase focuses on understanding the foundational principles of landscape architecture design, while the second phase guides students through the design
process, incorporating landscape architecture theory and practical projects.

The role of public parks in urban environments has gained significant recognition for their extensive positive impacts on city residents. However, with evolving needs and aspirations,
modern city planning must move beyond traditional park design considerations. Factors such as park form, spatial configuration, plant selection, furniture type and placement,
material textures, and diverse activity offerings have emerged as crucial elements in shaping public spaces that truly cater to contemporary urban life. Recognizing the need for more public parks for the city, ARC246 students will undertake a comprehensive plan to design a park in the outskirt of Phnom Penh.
